Wrinkle Relaxers

Wrinkle Relaxers

Since Botox was introduced in the early 90s as a solution to reverse the signs of aging, it has gained enormous popularity. People today visit med spas regularly for their “tox,” and they leave looking better and younger. There are four types of wrinkle relaxers on the market now, called neuromodulators, each specially formulated to relax muscles and reduce wrinkles.

Repetitive facial movements (smiling, frowning, squinting, even chewing) cause lines and wrinkles to appear. Over time, muscles become less able to relax, and wrinkles are formed as a result. Neuromodulators are designed to relax the muscles, causing wrinkles to fade or disappear and preventing new wrinkles from forming.

Currently, four FDA-approved neuromodulators are available: Botox® Cosmetic, Jeuveau®, Dysport®, and Xeomin®. These products work in slightly different ways. For example, Dysport has a wider spread and can treat large areas such as the forehead. Xeomin is a more purified form of neurotoxin that is great for those who have developed resistance to other forms of neurotoxin. Our nurse practitioner injector, Kristen, will help you determine which formulation is right for you.

FAQs

A neuromodulator is an injectable cosmetic treatment used for reducing fine lines and wrinkles on the face. These neuromodulators are pure forms of botulinum toxin type A.

Please do not be alarmed by the word “toxin”; it is completely safe to use (FDA approved since 1989), but only by licensed medical professionals. Brand names for the same type of product include Botox®, Jeuveau®, Dysport®, and Xeomin®. We carry all brands of neurotoxins to be able to provide the most customized treatment for each client.

Neuromodulators temporarily relax a muscle by blocking its nerve signals when injected directly into the muscle. Dynamic wrinkles caused by muscle movement become soft, dissipate, or disappear completely when the muscles are relaxed.

Neurotoxins may benefit you if you:
  • Are bothered by fine lines & wrinkles resulting from repetitive facial expressions.
  • Do not wish to undergo surgery to rejuvenate your face.
  • Are concerned about forehead lines, crow’s feet, frown lines, bunny lines, or a pebble chin.
  • Are interested in a slimming treatment for the jawline.

Treatments are usually completed in 15 to 20 minutes.

Treatments with neuromodulators are quick and relatively painless. There is no need for anesthesia or recovery time. Many people get a treatment during their lunch break and they can return to work right away.

Your dynamic lines and wrinkles will noticeably improve after receiving a neurotoxin treatment. They’ll appear softer, making you appear years younger. you will begin to notice results within three to five days and full results are typically seen at two weeks. If you want to maintain optimal results, we recommend scheduling your next appointment within 3-4 months.
