Microneedling

Microneedling

Collagen is our body’s most abundant protein, giving the skin that firm, tight youthful appearance. Throughout the aging process, collagen production decreases, leading to fine lines, wrinkles, thinning of the skin, and causing other skin issues to be more apparent.

Microneedling, known as collagen induction therapy, is a non-surgical procedure in which tiny needles inflict micro tissue injuries into the upper layers of the skin. In response to these micro-injuries, your body produces collagen and elastin – two vital proteins that help our skin’s texture, tone, and vibrancy. After the healing process completes, the result is a healthier, smoother complexion with a more even texture and tone.

Platelet rich fibrin (PRF), also termed “liquid gold,” can be applied topically after microneedling treatments even further to enhance your results. Platelet Rich Fibrin has become one of the lead treatments in anti-aging and uses only your own natural healing factors. PRF is collected through a simple blood draw using a tiny needle. Microneedling with PRF works with your body’s natural healing process to create new cells, enhance collagen production, and release growth factors. PRF accelerates the skin’s healing process and will naturally enhance treatment results by improving the skin’s health on a cellular level.

FAQs

Microneedling with PRF is a powerhouse treatment combination. Microneedling will stimulate collagen and elastin production, while PRF will accelerate the healing process and further enhance collagen synthesis. This treatment combination will effectively address brown spots, under-eye bags, fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars and rejuvenate dull-looking skin. All skin types and skin tones may be able to benefit from this treatment.

Microneedling is typically well-tolerated. Before beginning the microneedling procedure, you will be given a topical numbing cream to ensure that you are comfortable during the treatment. The wounds caused by the needles are not deep and heal quickly.

Treatments are generally performed every 4-6 weeks for a total of 3 treatments. Additional treatments may be needed, depending on your goals and skin condition.

Some patients will actually notice results as soon as one week after their first treatment as the skin begins to look tighter and smoother. Full results are typically seen 4-6 weeks after treatment as it takes roughly this long for the body to create new, robust, healthy collagen. Results may continue to improve even up to 6 months from the last microneedling session.

There is no downtime after microneedling therapy. Skin will most likely be slightly red, similar to a mild sunburn for approximately 24-48 hours. You will need to follow specific post-procedure skincare instructions and protect your delicate skin from direct sun exposure for the next three days. You should also avoid any activities that cause flushing and sweating, such as strenuous exercise, hot tubs, and saunas for the next three days.
